Feb-March 2017 Calendar

Wednesday 2/15 Pete Boyd will be hiking the West Glacier Spur Trail and dealing with as much maintenance / clearing brush as possible. This trail is one of the main access points to the glacier and is regularly used by rescue groups if lake crossing is unavailable.

Feb 18-20. Dani Evenson is leading a trip to that is a loop up Mount Jumbo the regular route and descending through Dan Moller Basin on Feb 19 or 20. The day will depend on weather. February 20^th is a President’s Day. It’s a moderate trip but talk to Dani about gear prior.  Contact Dani by 7PM Friday February 17 if interested.dani_evenson@yahoo.com 

Feb 22. Climbing Mt Hawthorn this Wednesday. Ice axe, crampons and maybe snowshoes are required in addition to standard winter hiking gear. The climb is long and strenuous.

March 11-12, Alex Burkhart is leading a trip to the Grandchild Peaks. If the weather permits this will be an overnight trip that will involve winter camping.  Talk to the trip leader about gear and preparedness. It’s a moderate trip but you don’t want to find yourself at snowline unprepared for conditions. Avalanche gear and an understanding of how to use them may be needed as well depending on snow conditions.
