March Calendar 2014

Rock Dump. The club resumes Wednesdays at the Rock Dump again  March 12th.  We meet at 6 PM and generally climb until 8 or so. Wednesday nights are Ladies Night so women get in for 5 bucks but dudes have to pay thirteen. You can rent shoes for $3. All are welcome and no previous experience is necessary.  Really.  Climbing indoors is a great way to learn climbing skills in a safe environment.

March 15; Spaulding Meadows – Peterson Lake Traverse. Tom Dolan will lead a trip along the traverse that heads up Spaulding meadows past Peterson Lake and back to Glacier Highway. This can be done on cross country skis or snow shoes. It’s not a technical difficult climb but often takes all day. There are great views along the way. – Contact Tom if interested 223-1308 by 7PM Friday March 14th.

March 22. Mount McGinnis Climb. Carl Reese will lead a climb up Mount McGinnis. This climb requires ice axe, crampons, and snowshoes. It’s a difficult climb and you should know how to self arrest with an ice axe. Depending upon conditions the trip leader may require avalanche gear.  We hope for better weather than when our attempt in January. If you are interested contact Carl (723-9323) before 7PM March 21st.

March 29:  Eagle Glacier Cabin overnighter. The club has the cabin for the night.  Tom is the organizer.  Call Tom 223-1308 by 7PM March 28th if interested.

April 5: Mount Jumbo Climb. Carl Reese is leading a trip up Mount Jumbo. This climb likely require ice axe, crampons, and snowshoes. Backcountry skis could be an option if conditions are right. If you are interested contact Carl (723-9323) before 7PM April 4th.

April 7: Next Monthly Meeting. The next meeting will be held 6:30 PM at the Island Pub in Douglas.
